It is July 1995 in Albuquerque, New Mexico — four years after Desert Storm. Flags wave over cracked pavement while the rain refuses to fall. Yet for one poet, armed with a notebook, the national fervor has begun to putrefy. Part journal and part epistle, The Chandler Letters contains literary poems of political criticism that are intimate, biting, and raw. These letters to Chandler contend that July is not the time to pledge allegiance, but to question it.

Bruce Burrows (1968 – 2020) is responsible for the words contained in this contraband volume. He attended college at CSU Stanislaus and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Writing & Poetics from the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1993. His renegade words have appeared in various publications, including The Little Magazine, Pif Magazine, Spike, and Bombay Gin.
